My Journey of Becoming
Finding My Voice
My path has never fit neatly into a single category. Through fashion, business, content creation, marketing, and design, I am continuously exploring what inspires me and where my strengths can create value. This section highlights the milestones, challenges, discoveries, and experiences that continue to shape who I am becoming.
My creative journey began in middle school when I took a home economics class and discovered something that completely changed the way I saw the world. Growing up without much money taught me to appreciate what I had, but this class showed me that creativity wasn't limited by resources. I realized that with enough imagination, ordinary materials could become something entirely new.
That realization sparked my love for creating. What began as excitement over the possibility of making something from everyday items gradually grew into a passion for fashion and design. I became fascinated by the idea that creativity isn't about having the most—it is about seeing potential where others might not.
Since then, every project has reminded me why I fell in love with creating in the first place. Whether I'm designing a garment, repurposing materials, or developing a new idea, I'm driven by the belief that meaningful work often begins with curiosity, resourcefulness, and the willingness to imagine something greater.
Exploring Possibilities
As my love for design grew, so did my curiosity about the many ways creativity shapes the world. One moment that had a lasting impact on me was seeing Zendaya's 2024 Met Gala look. It wasn't just the dress that captivated me—it was the complete vision. Every detail, from the silhouette and construction to the styling, makeup, and accessories, worked together to tell a story. That experience introduced me to the world of couture and showed me how fashion could become wearable art.
Inspired by that perspective, I designed my Medda Larkin costume in a couture-inspired style, carefully considering every detail to reflect both the character and the craftsmanship behind the garment. It remains one of the most meaningful projects I've created because it challenged me creatively while showing me what thoughtful design can accomplish.
At the same time, I discovered that my creativity extended beyond fashion. Through studying business and marketing, I found another passion: building ideas with purpose. I love that marketing combines creativity, strategy, psychology, storytelling, and design. It requires understanding not only what a brand looks like, but why it exists, who it serves, and how to communicate that message in a way that genuinely connects with people. For me, fashion and marketing are not separate interests—they are different ways of telling meaningful stories.
Building My Future
My journey is still just beginning, but I already know the kind of impact I hope to have. I've always been drawn to building things from the ground up. One of my earliest memories is running a lemonade stand in elementary school with my grandparents. My grandmother, who worked in banking, taught me how to calculate production costs, gross profit, and net profit. Together we experimented with pricing and noticed that customers were often more generous when the lemonade was priced lower because they felt it was worth more than what we asked. It may have been a simple lemonade stand, but it sparked a fascination with strategy, psychology, and entrepreneurship that has stayed with me ever since.
Today, I dream of creating both large-scale companies and smaller boutique ventures that reflect creativity, authenticity, and purpose. More importantly, I hope to build communities around those ideas—places where people feel inspired, included, and connected through the work we create together.
Success, to me, isn't measured only by what I build, but by what that success allows me to give back. One of my long-term goals is to create programs that help students pursue higher education, making opportunities more accessible for those who face financial barriers. I hope that when people experience my work, they don't just see beautiful designs or thoughtful brands—they feel the intention behind them and become part of something bigger than themselves.
Fashion Portfolio
Upcycling & Creative
Created entirely from duct tape, this project challenged my understanding of what fashion can be made from. Inspired by the vibrant energy and celebration of Mardi Gras, I designed and constructed a fully wearable dress that transformed an unconventional material into something expressive and elegant.
This project taught me that creativity often begins where limitations exist. Working with duct tape required patience, experimentation, and constant problem-solving, pushing me to think differently about structure, texture, and movement. More than anything, it reinforced my belief that beautiful design is driven by imagination rather than the materials themselves.
Mardi Gras: A Dress Built from the Unexpected
Inspired by Medda Larkin from Newsies, this design was created almost entirely from discarded clothing, old curtains, and reclaimed fabrics. Rather than purchasing new materials, I challenged myself to build a costume that celebrated creativity through resourcefulness.
Every piece of fabric carried its own history before becoming part of something entirely new. Combining different textures, colors, and materials required both technical problem-solving and artistic intuition. This project reflects my love for storytelling through fashion while demonstrating how sustainable design can be both imaginative and expressive.
Medda Larkin: Giving Forgotten Fabrics a Second Life
This purse began with a pair of my grandfather's old jeans and became something deeply personal. Rather than allowing the denim to go unused, I transformed it into a functional accessory featuring a hand-drawn hairless cat design that I illustrated myself.
The project combines illustration, sewing, and upcycling while carrying sentimental value through the materials it was made from. It represents the idea that design can preserve memories just as much as it creates something new. Every stitch reflects my appreciation for craftsmanship, creativity, and finding beauty in objects that already have a story to tell.

Brand Identity
I enjoy building brands from the inside out, developing visual identities, messaging, color palettes, typography, and tone that reflect a company's values. To me, branding is about creating a personality people can recognize and connect with rather than simply designing a logo.
Advertising & Consumer Psychology
One of my favorite parts of marketing is understanding what makes people stop, notice, and engage. I enjoy studying how language, design, color, emotion, and storytelling influence perception while striving to create marketing that is thoughtful, authentic, and memorable.

Through coursework and real-world projects like my proposal for ECC, I've developed marketing strategies focused on audience understanding, long-term growth, and meaningful communication. I enjoy balancing creativity with analytical thinking to create ideas that are both engaging and effective.

Whether designing social media content, presentations, photography, or promotional materials, I love using visuals to communicate ideas clearly and authentically. Every design choice—from layout to imagery—is an opportunity to tell a story.

Entrepreneurial Vision
Entrepreneurship represents the intersection of nearly everything I love: creativity, design, leadership, branding, problem-solving, and innovation. My long-term goal is not simply to own a business, but to build organizations that create value, inspire others, and leave a lasting positive impact.
Entrepreneurship allows me to combine many of my interests—creativity, strategy, problem-solving, and leadership. I am passionate about building ideas from the ground up and exploring how creative work can become meaningful ventures.
Creative Business Concepts
During my Business Career Technical Education program, I developed a complete business proposal as my capstone project, guiding an original concept from initial idea through branding, planning, operations, and presentation. The experience strengthened my understanding of entrepreneurship while reinforcing my passion for building ideas from the ground up.
Future Ventures
I hope to build both large-scale and boutique businesses throughout my career. I am inspired by companies that combine creativity with thoughtful leadership while also dreaming of creating smaller, more personal ventures that reflect craftsmanship, artistry, and meaningful customer experiences.
Authentically Aiyana
Who is authentically_aiyana?
For a long time, I thought I needed to figure out the "right" kind of content to create before I could really begin. I experimented with different styles, ideas, aesthetics, and online identities, hoping one of them would finally feel like me. While each chapter taught me something, none of them felt completely authentic.
The turning point came when I stopped trying to fit into someone else's definition of what a creator should be. Instead of chasing trends or forcing myself into a niche, I decided to simply share what genuinely excited me—fashion, business, marketing, creativity, entrepreneurship, and the journey of building a meaningful life.
That's where *Authentically Aiyana* was born.
It isn't just a username; it's a reminder to create honestly. It represents choosing curiosity over perfection, growth over comparison, and authenticity over performance. Ironically, once I gave myself permission to simply be who I am, creating became less intimidating. The fear of being judged didn't disappear overnight, but it stopped being the thing that determined whether I showed up.
Today, social media is more than a place to share finished projects. It's where I document the process, celebrate progress, learn from challenges, and invite others to grow alongside me. My hope is that anyone who follows my journey doesn't just see what I'm creating—they see what's possible when you stop trying to become someone else and start building a life that genuinely reflects who you are.
